Gathering More Information on ERAS

The Electronic Residency Application Services, shortly known as ERAS, involves processing residency applications so medical candidates can then Match into residency positions. These applications involve four components: MyERAS, Dean’s Office Workstation (DWS), Letter of Recommendation Portal (LoRP), and Program Director’s Workstation (PDWS). It is essential that each applicant fully understands the ERAS policies and application criteria before processing an application. This includes the guidelines regarding visas, license requirements, and minimum eligibility standards.

How does ERAS work?

To begin, apply via the Electronic Fellowship Document Office (EFDO), which will allow you to register with MyERAS. The applicant will then complete their MyERAS application, select programs, and assign supporting documents to be sent to programs. The supporting documents will be uploaded by each applicants Designated Dean’s Office and the Letter of Recommendation authors. During this time, the examining boards will request for transcripts and receive materials through the Program Director’s Workstation. From there, Program Directors will invite candidates to interview to see if they would be a good fit.
